75 GL1000 Question

Postby jeffk » Sun Jul 26, 2015 10:19 am

Can you still get spark with a defective candenser. Also where would I look for possible air leaks on my carbs. Idle will go up and come back down slowly. Everything seems to be tight. Do the gas caps breath on these. I notice everytime I remove the gas cap it releases a lot of air.

The cap has a one way valve.Air in only.Opening the gas cap may release pressure but the tank should never draw air into it when the cap is loosened.
The carb runners do have a "O" ring sealing it to the head.Spray around each one to see if the idle changes.
You could even remove the condensers. It might even run but it is required to properly load/cycle the ignition coil for optimum spark.
