I've just become the owner of a 1978 GL1000. I bought it from someone who had mechanic clean and "restore" the carbs but they didn't bottom the job and as a result I was able to get the bike at a very good price with a list of jobs that need doing before I have a chance of getting a UK MOT test certificate.
The bike starts first turn and runs but runs badly, turn throttle, no response, responds eventually but then does not return to idle. I'm busy reading, watching Youtube videos etc and have noted one fairly obvious omission. There is only one throttle cable on the bike.
I can't find an explanation of why there are usually two, what is the function of each and what happens if you are missing one anywhere on the various forums including this one. I'd be very grateful if someone here could point me to information on the subject or tell me what symptoms to expect if one of the throttle cables is missing.
