Most are metric now. 110 90 19 on the front and 130 80 17 on the rear is about as big as you can go in the rear. Lots of Web choices like Motorcycle Superstore and I can not think of the others now.

I just purchased a pair of Bridgestone BattleAx BT-45 tires. 130/90-17 (68V) rear, and 100/90-19 (57V) front. I live in Canada, so I was entitled to free shipping from Canada's Motorcycle. https://www.canadasmotorcycle.ca/catalo ... tlax+bt-45
They were delivered in 3 days by Canada Post for $297.58 incl. taxes. That's with a $10 discount when you buy 2 tires. I thought that was pretty good for a pair of top-end tires for my '78 GL1000.
I don't know how they handle shipping to the U.S. but that'll give you an idea anyway, and with the dollar the way it is, you might want to investigate further. Good luck!

Bike Bandit was by far the cheapest, with tubes when I bought last year.

I had BT45s on mine when I shipped it to the States. Was never very happy with them. Grip was good but the front always felt that it wanted to drop into corners too readily.
On my last trip over, they needed changing for the trip to Canada. I put a set of Shinko Tourmasters, bought from Bike Bandit (amazing price, super quick delivery), got a local shop to mount them complete with balance beads.
I simply can't believe the difference in handling and ride. I was a bit worried by the cheapness of them. I need not have been. I'd recommend these to anyone.

Three weeks ago, I had a set of Bridgestone BT-45s installed prior to a 7800 km.(4847 mi.) trip to South Dakota. I agree that the handling was lacking, although I'm not a very aggressive rider, I definitely noticed a distinct difference from the tires that I normally install, the Bridgestone Spitfire II. I've used the Spitfires for years, and personally I feel that they are the best handling, and longest wearing, and have always given me a very confident and secure feeling while riding.
Having said that, the BT-45s also in my opinion, wear at an unacceptable rate. I figure that I've only got 2000 kms.(1243 mi.) left on these tires. Maybe Bridgestone has opted for a softer rubber compound in an attempt to improve handling performance, but at the expense of longevity.
I just ordered a pair of Spitfires for my '78 GL from Canada's Motorcycle for $252.46 delivered, here in Canada. Shipping was free. If you guys stateside are interested, the exchange rate on the dollar might make it attractive, and worth investigating this source, and their shipping costs to the states.

It was HOT in the midwest......................Dave

Tires for your ride is always a personal preference. Cost often enters gets involved with the decision process. I have had nothing but the best results from the Dunlap E-3. Consistently 25,000 miles before change. People complain they are noisy? Isn't that what the radio is for (turn up the tunes) or turn on the intercom and listen to your significant other keep you posted on current events. Only my 2 cents worth, your choice. Another post for me for the shifter brace. :D :D
