I am considering swapping out the wire wheels on my GL 1000 with some others. What other year wing wheels with swap with no issues?

You can get GL1100 wheels to fit a GL1000, but it will take some shimming to get the brake calipers to be correctly positioned. You might have some clearance issues on the rear with the swingarm (specifically the driveshaft side).

There are mag Lesters and Star that were build for the early wings. They bolt right up including brakes. I have a rear Star for sale, but no matching front.

And for the front, they are the only ones that fit without hassle. Comstars from the 78-79 with bolt straight into the rear, but the front sliders, calipers and brackets, brake discs and bolts, axle nut and spacers and speedo drive have to be changed to mount the front Comstar. If you do this you can also use 1100 front wheel. I have heard that the 1100 rear will fit the 1000 final drive but I believe there are problems doing so.

'Impossible' is just a level of difficulty! The only stupid question is the one you didn't ask first!
