Picked up a very neglected 1976 GL1000 full dresser. Looking to do a cafe racer. I will definitely have questions for you guys. So many wires on this thing lol.

welcome to the world of goldwings. being as how it is very neglected, do not even attempt to start the bike until you change the timing belts, time it, adjust the valves. You have a good project bike to work on, this site has most of what you need to know to complete your project in the "how to articles" if not then just ask a question and one of the many knowledgeable people on this site will be able to point you in the right direction. Once again welcome. :D :D

I did something similar. 77 GL 1000 project. Be prepared to put mega man hours, a good deal of money, and lots of time searching the net looking for parts. Mine:

1977 GL 1000 Standard (naked can be good, who knew?)
