'79 Not Firing on 1 and 2

Postby pappajim0719 » Sat Jul 02, 2016 6:28 pm

Hello all, I removed my carbs, repaired a leak, reinstalled the carbs, now there's no fire on 1 and 2. I've checked the wires at the coil, I didn't pull them loose, but something else got unplugged. Any suggestions as to where I might look and what color I should be looking for?

It sounds very strange because cylinders #1 & #4 are fired by coil #1, and cylinders #2 & #3are fired by coil #2. So both coils being 1/2 bad doesn't sound right.
This is just a thought, could be the wires be grounded?? are you sure you didn't crisscrossed the wires??
BTW, the FR is #1 and FL is #2.

One coil fires 1-2 the other fires 3-4 on all four cylinder wings. Check you wires from the points near the condenser and battery box area. Are they points still or electronic?

I finally chased the problem down to the harness that comes from the electronic ignition, the white wire had come loose. This was caused by the harness hanging on the bell crank of the #3 carb. It was a frustrating mistake, the old beast is roaring again, just in time to enjoy the 4th. I hope everyone stays safe, and please remember, ride like very one on the road is trying to kill you, or one of them will

Hi ekvh, thank you for info; I learned something more, Climer manual is way wrong when it shows a diagram saying so. :(
I didn't analyzed the firing order, otherwise I'd caught the error.
