Custom seats

Postby Ric Roth » Tue Jul 26, 2016 8:31 am

Hi,
I'm Ric and I'm writing from the beautiful Norway. I live on the west coast, in a tiny little village close to Ørsta.
I've had few motorcycles during the last 10 years, and from yesterday I own also a nice GL1000 1977. It was long time that I liked the model but I never thought I would ever buy one, until a local man put his bike on sale. 5 minutes of test drive, 15 minutes of funny talk and I came back with the GL in my van (damn it was heavy to take it out of the van).
Let the fun start :D .
I want to replace the seat on my gl1000, as it looks awful :-D
What's everyone using (not stock)?

Anyone knows a fabricator who sells online good products?

Corbins are very good if you can afford one.

All kinds of seats on EBay in the USA, not so sure about EBay Europe.

I just installed a Corbin on my 1978 GL1000. I absolutely love it. A bit pricey at $508 with shipping, but after my first ride on it, it feels like a different bike! They make them to order so you can get exactly what you want. Highly recommended.

I've been considering the Corbin but I'm not 100% a fan of that shape. Plus, it is pricey, even more considering that the price would rise even more with the oversea shipping and the import tax :D
I ordered instead a low profile seat from Texavina, I'll post some pictures when it comes

I find that after having the Corbin for over 30 years that when wearing jeans it is still very slippery.

Very comfortable but slippery.
