I'd start looking for used parts dealers, or eBay.

If you aren't concerned about keeping everything stock, I would check into Accel or Dyna high performance coils. They provide a hotter spark to the plugs. Also check into a Dyna electronic ignition. The combination of the two will give the old girl more get up and go and a smoother performance.

if you convert to an 1100 coil, used like from ebay you can have removable wires. Many complete sets available, make sure coils aren't cracked.

I am facing the same situation with my '76 GL1000 LTD. I am considering installing Accel Supercoils.
I found them at this link, and these are the best prices I've found as well. Good Luck ! 8-)
