1977 GL1000 Valutation

Postby Stainless » Tue Sep 14, 2010 4:48 am

Hi everybody!
I'm Flavio from Italy, I'm a newbie in GL1000 world, but I'm looking forward to buy a good bike!
I'm trading on the 1977 blue GL1000 you can see in the link ( http://img508.imageshack.us/gal.php?g=fotomoto001.jpg) , but since I'm looking for an original bike I'd like to know:
- is the colour original?
- the face of the instruments is supposed to be black with green marks?
- the mufflers are originals?
- what about the saddle?
- are there issues on the bike originality I didn't recognise?
The frame number is 301xxxx, so it should be a 1977 model with black mufflers?

Please if someone could help me I'd really appreciate it!
Thanks
Flavio

Everything looks original except the seat. I think the seat has been replaced or recovered. I think the front half of the seat was quilted like the back half on the original. Looks to be in excellent condition.
Here in the USA she might go for $1500 to $2000.

Edit: Welcome from Oklahoma City, USA.

The muffler is original and it is a 77. The instruments look stock. In the states they can go for anywhere from $500 to $10,000 but it would still have to be in extremely good shape to bring $4600. It looks like there is some wear in the pictures, so the price might be a little high, even for Europe.

thanks. I agree it's a little expensive so I'm looking for another one, maybe this one:

You need to come to America, buy one here, ride it around and ship it back. It might pay for your trip. If they actually sell for that in Europe, you might want to buy several.

I'm considering the opportunity!
In the USA cars and bikes are very very less expensive, either they are new or used ones.
Consider that I bought a new Mercedes Benz SLK 200 a couple of years ago for 40K euros...that's 55K bucks!!
Anyway I'm focusing on that GL, and tranding hard trying to lower the price!!!!
