Basic Ignition Troubleshooting

Postby dmartin304 » Wed Sep 15, 2010 11:57 am

Hello All,

I just picked up a 1975 GL1000 from a friend. I am trying to find a problem with little or no spark to one or more cylinders. The bike has been fitted with an electronic ignition, which seems to be working fine. I need to test the coils and need to know where to look and what voltage to look for. I have a multi-meter and just need some guidance. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your assistance.

Randakk has on his site the procedures for testing the coils and much more.
