parts question for my GL1000

Postby lar » Fri Sep 24, 2010 7:39 am

I know of a guy parting out a 1981 GL1100. Will any of these parts interchange for my 1979 GL1000 project? Thankyou. ....Larry....

Quite a few engine parts will interchange but virtually none of the cycle parts.

'Impossible' is just a level of difficulty! The only stupid question is the one you didn't ask first!

That wasn't the most helpful reply, I know.
Specifically
Engine: heads (rockers and shafts, valves, springs etc), front belt covers, rear belt covers, timing sprockets and belts, water pump, oil pumps and shaft, front cover, waterpump cover and hose neck, primary chain tensioners, water cross-over tubes and thermostat housing, alternator stator and rotor, starter chain, oil pump chain, oil filter housing, crankcase filter and sealing plate, gearchange mechanism and lever, starter and sprocket, gearchange forks, probably a good deal of the rest of the gearbox too.

Chassis; front brake calipers, front brake master cylinder, throttle cables, choke cable if you use the 1100 clutch lever, speedo and tach, speedo drive and cable, I think the front wheel (not sure), footrests, ignition coils and leads. That's about it.
