Strange object in fuel tank?

Sender unit was out today for a check, looking in to the tank i seen this object, 4 silver stud type discs in a wire mesh. Anyone know or seen this before.?

I can't think of a good reason for that to be in the tank.

Possibly a joke from the last guy who opened the tank up?

Are they lead? If so maybe someone trying to boost their fuel.

They are a catalyst device, designed to allow older engines to run safely on unleaded fuel without having to have hardened valve seats fitted. Obviously a PO didn't realise that all Honda engines were designed for low grade fuel anyway.

Split the mesh open and indeed appear to be lead, thanks all.
