1976 Gold wing Carbs

Post by gfrench5@hotmail.com » Sun Nov 26, 2017 7:03 pm

Hi guys I've posted recently but it seems I did something wrong. Doing carbs on a 1976 that sat for years. I've ordered Randakks rubber parts kit but also need hard parts Float needles etc who is the best kit manufacturer out there?? Also I have some extra banks (4) that have different numbers on the carb bodies 758A,769A, and 755A, I take these may be various years. Are one of these better than the others and can they be mismatched?? Thanks in advance. Regards, Glen French

Hello, I can answer what I can. I would not mix and match different castings.

I attached the casting year chart.

Being somewhat a novice I used , after advice from Randakks blog and only used Oem hard parts , most are available and or NOS.

I even replaces bad screws with new Honda I once bought bowel screws used offf eBay and later discovered they were dirt cheap.

Hi guys , thanks for the advice on the carbs on my Sulphur yellow 1976 GL1000. 44,000 Miles. I've also got gates belts on the way. What's the best place for upper and lower rad hoses and where do you get your thermostats at. Thanks and I enjoy the learning experience from all the wealth of your experiences. Cheers Glen

Old Fogey at http://www.wingovations.com/ sells a hose kit.

You can also make up your own:

Radiator Hoses
Napa #7733 ($16.95) does both top & bottom
Gates - #21008 does both top & bottom
AutoZone - #B70834 ($9.95) does both top & bottom
Fits 1973 to 1979 Honda Civic
(may need new screw clamps, my stock ones worked okay)

Lower Radiator hose
Gates-22038 one hose, no cutting
Gates-21404 you can get two lower hoses from this one

I like getting them all done already from OF tho.

The thermostat can be gotten at any auto parts store.

Thermostat
NAPA #101
Stant #13868
Murray #3868
