1980 GL1100 Carb Issues

Post by Placid_Storm » Sun Mar 04, 2018 2:04 pm

Well I am gonna get straight to the point. I have on of my carbs that has a broken float post. I think that's what I should call it. It's the post that the float is supported by, that has the pin going through it. I used JB Weld on it but I don't know how long it will hold up. It is the one with the pump diaphragm.

I also need to know what 0-Ring goes on the Fuel Joint B set. My aluminum tubes are fine but the smallest 0-Ring I have are 1/16 W, 1/8 ID, 1/4 OD.

Thank Y'all for the help.

Randakk has kits to repair said posts. They are easy to break when driving the float pivot pins out.

Yeah, I know about that kit. It was already broken when I got it. I normally don't have any issues driving those pins out. I just never had to repair a broken one. Any ideas on what size o-ring that is though? I'm still leaking fuel on that smaller fuel pipe. and my smallest o-ring won't fit it. I just don't have the cash to buy the gasket kit right now.

Just about any auto parts or hardware store should be able to match the o-ring. Just make sure it is gasoline compatable. Napa stores usually have a good selection.

I have a part number from Honda 16010-463-004 . No o- ring size , but I did find a few different outfits that sell them separate. Type in the pn and you will find them. Hope this helps.

I'm not use to Carburetor parts, is this the o-ring I'm talking about in fuel joint set b? I just did the math again. and I think it should be less than 3.1 mm Inside Diameter.

Aight this is what I found out. The tube I'm talking about is called an Accelerator Pump Fuel Cross Tube and the o-ring is 2.8mm ID and a 1.3mm Width. In inches this would be 7/64" x 3/64" The closest thing I could find on Amazon is 3/32" ID x 7/32" OD and 1/16" Width. Which is a #005 O-Ring. If there is anything closer to the 2.8mm x 1.3mm please let me know. I am probably going to be trying this fix and will let everyone know later.

Randakks part # 100-1209 might be what you need 7.95. No I don't have a size, honda usually list them in there parts book. Must be special since there in gasoline and close enough doesn't work here.

Those are for where the carbs attach to the Plenum. I have seals for those locations. Thanks though.

Ethan at Randakk's Cycle Shakk sent me this link. Good people over there. He has made a future customer for sure.
