neither my 76 or 82 have any counterweights installed. I've never had any handling problems either except for some when I had a rear tire go bad. I do reccomend checking your clamps to make sure they are not made in China. These are sold by a lot of auto parts stores now and they tend to break to easy. They are just a tad thinner than the American clamps and probably made from a very poor grade of steel.

the counterweight in 3 pounds and mounts in place of the original light - i had some problems with mine because the person i got it from had lost the counterweight - i compensated with a 3lb dumbell from big 5 sporting good just tapped holes in each end and threaded a bolt in

The Vetter fairing system does not use a counterweight.

I have a Vetter fairing on my 81 GL1100 and it is the smoothest air cutting fairing I have ever used.

I have had the 1100 over 100 mph sustained and it was as smooth as can be.

I installed several Vetter's on 750 Hondas I owned. Never had a counter-weight? Is that unique to Wings? What was the purpose of one?

The Vetter systems don't have counterweights.

The Hondaline fairings for the 1100's do have the counterweight and ride light on the frontend without it.

My Vetter was purchased new in 77 for a GL1000 and there was no counter weight. This is the first I have heard of one.

Shooter05: No, I don't believe there will be much more debate about, because I and a number of riding buddies etc have decades of riding experience with various bikes and fairings, and with the Vetters in particular, nobody has used bar weights for counterweights, although some bikes have/had them for vibration suppression, etc. If you're considering installing a 'Jammer, just go for it and enjoy the ride, :D and don't lose any sleep over handlebar weights.

Good to hear. I have a Windjammer IV that has yet to make it on the road. Thanks for the info
