I haven't tried that conversion so I can't comment on it,but I did a home brew setup. It greatly improved starting the bike.point systems need a hot battery to get a good spark and a bunch of cranking to get gas made it hard to start after setting a week or so.With that in mind,a converted to a electric fuel pump. After that it would fire up with little effort

I believe this is an updated version of the old Luminition system. It's an optical system rather than the Dyna's magnetic one. Made in the UK.
I don't have any info on reliability or issues with it, but for someone living in the States I would advise going with the Dyna, since they are made over there, have a long history and a good back-up service. Buy it from Z1 Enterprises a good bit cheaper than this system.

I know nothing about this particular ignition. I have the Dyna on my 76 and it performs great.

Noticed they just raised their prices. Mine was $120. Still much cheaper than the other one.

I used a different brand on my '75 and it was a vast improvement. no experience with the brand you are asking about but if it works I'm sure you will be happy with it.

I can't heap enough praise on DynaTek's support team. Firstly, they have the installation instructions available on their web site. Also, I bought a used setup for my '76 from ebay, for $5. It didn't have the rotor that rides on the cam. I called DT to order one and they said no problem, what's your address we'll send you one.. :o ;) It worked for a while then started having "issues". I called them to describe the symptoms, and after we confirmed I had followed the troubleshooting steps in the instructions, he said send it in and we'll bench test it FOR FREE. They checked it out and said it was well on it's way down the road to complete failure. The unit was years if not decades beyond warranty, but they sold me a brand new unit for a crazy low price which I won't disclose out of respect. I like the design of the Dyna setup because I can stow away the stock points plate etc as backup if I go on a long trip.

Sounds like that might be the answer? Dyna Tek or Dyna -S?

According to their website http://www.dynaonline.com/skins/product ... es/dyna_s/

you want the Dyna S.

Can't speak to the NewTronic, especially being opticly triggered...but I have an old Prestolite EI that is magneticly triggered similar to the Dyna. As to reliability, I bought it in 1977 and I'm still running it today.
