front brake pad retention clips

Postby poncaprince » Sun May 29, 2011 5:52 pm

I recently purchased a 1978 gl1000 and the front brakes were locked up, I cleaned every thing up but cant get the pads back in with the 2 retention clips, the brake is one piece unlike what the manual says, its a single piston 1 on each side wheel. When I took them off the clips fell off so I didnt see how they fit in, I a newbie to goldwings, I drove a gl500 in the past and own a 94 kz1000p now.
Help would be appreciated Im ready to see how it handles compared to the kz

Here is a diagram of the whole brake calliper and bracket for the 78.
The clip goes into the top of the calliper first, then each pad is pushed up against the spring pressure.

'Impossible' is just a level of difficulty! The only stupid question is the one you didn't ask first!
