Headlight for a '79

Postby bluec10 » Mon Jul 04, 2011 12:56 pm

My '79 came with a Vetter fairing which needs to be recycled. I want to return the bike to a stock look, but the headlight is missing. The bowl is still there.

Will headlights from other years fit my bike? If I find a complete assembly, can I keep the existing bowl and just transplant the rest of the parts?

Thanks for your help.

Hello and welcome to the forum.
Someone here may have the parts from a bike they are parting out and should be able to help you.
I have websites for a couple of Goldwing specific salvage yards if interested.
Good people here, visit and post often.

There is a nice crossover parts list at ngwclub.com, maybe here too. It is a common lamp, and is found on Honda 750's of the same year as well as others. .Most folks want a H4 bulb reflector and not a stock sealed beam. The headlight ring should be not a problem to find. Much easier than the elusive grab bar or stock seat.

Thanks for the help. I need the lamp, but I also need the trim ring and all the other parts that go on the inside of the bowl - hardware too.

On my conversion the stock trim ring and lamp were taken out and used in the faring, is that your case by chance?

I don't know if the 1000 headlights are the same as the 1100...if so, you can get a cheap, new replacement. Look at this thread.
