LED's

Postby portugeezer » Mon Jul 04, 2011 9:03 pm

So I bought 1157 LED bulbs for my tailights and I converted my headlight to a round capsule with an LED bulb in my Faring. The results are brighter lights and my charging system is working much much better. The downside is my brakelight indicator is always dimly lit but does get brighter when I brake. The headlight indicator on my dash is not lit at all with the lowbeam on but both the head and bright lights light when the bright is on. Minor inconvieniencies! Overall very happy with the bulbs and the power consumption difference. Try them!

Where did you get yours from. I bought a package (2) of Super Bright red LEDS. I don't know in whose imagination these are SUPER BRIGHT. I could get something brighter from a match. These are just piss poor. There are 19 leds in each bulb. When the running lights are on you can not even see them. With the brakes on they are just really dim at night.

Mine were from Ebay Hong Kong you have to buy LED's that are the color of the lens because our old bike lenses are not made to reflect the LED's

Also you have to look at how the LED's in the light itself are pointed. They are very directional lights.

Have a look at the LEDs I used for my brakes - they are extremely bright: http://goldwingdocs.com/forum/viewtopic ... 38t#p14438

Were yours from Auto Zone? I saw some there but then read reviews on them and people were all complaining about them not being very bright

All of the LED's I used came from a guy in Hong Kong named Peter Wong. I purchased them off Ebay. They came wrapped in foam rubber and bubble wrap in a plastic shipping bag. No name brand or retail type packaging. I do know the exact same made in China products are sold with many names and in different packaging. It is very difficult to buy things made in China even duplicate purchases because of quality control problems there and or substitutions for name brand semi conductors for Chinese knockoffs. Buy the same item twice and you may have one good one and one bad one. Either way I got the bulbs cheap enough that if things did not go well I could have tried again.
