'75 Goldwing/ rear shocks

Post by Stan » Thu Nov 05, 2009 8:18 am

Mornin all
Can I rebuild rear shocks? If so where do I get seals or what ever I need to do so? I bought this bike in May this year. I had one like it I bought new in '75. This one had not been stsrted since 1985. I took my time, cleaned changed all fluids, filters, tank, belts, tires, brakes, what ever it needed to be my new/old toy. Oh yes, by thye way the engine was froze-up. You guessed it "SEA FOAM", for a week in the cycl. Turned over with the kick start lever so easy it almosst scared me. I now have put around 2,000 miles on it. My rear shocks I think are TOAST. This is why I need info to rebuild????? Only has 58,000 on it now.

Thanks for letting me in on this forum

You might be able to find rebuild kits on the Internet. I did a quick search, and found these:

They've got progressive spring GL1000 rear shock sets for $75, which is a pretty good price. I used that web site for all my brake rebuild parts, and they were cheap, fast and reliable.
