Rear Wheel Alignment

Postby winged dave » Fri Nov 20, 2009 4:31 pm

This is my first post,so please help if you can.
I'm rebuilding a GL1000 1976 and have removed the rear wheel with no probs. However, when I put the wheel back (with spider)it rubs on the RH swingarm.Am I missing a spacer or something?Does the spider only go in one way?

Not familiar with the term 'spider' when looking at a 'Wing. Can you maybe post a picture?

Thanks for that.I believe the correct term is 'cush drive flange'. The inner is splined to mate with the final drive gear, the outer has 6 pins which engage with shock absorber bushes in the wheel hub.

Haven't had either of mine off yet ('78 daily runner, '76 Junkyard Rescuee)
I'll have to look it up and get back to you.
You might log onto Naked GoldWings, though and see if someone there can help you:
