Updating Brake Master Cylinder

Postby SyLord » Sun Oct 09, 2011 8:32 am

I have a new to me 1979 Gold Wing GL1000 with first gen windjammer fairing on it.

The Master Cylinder, on the right side of the handlebar, looks crappy and is starting to leak; almost like its deteriorating and warping a bit.

Instead of buying a new reservoir can I replace it with another years assembly, say one that is 2-3 years newer but has the black and chrome with view window instead of the stock clear tub?

I just want it to look a little better and on eBay I can buy the whole assembly less than the few new pieces i need..

Thanks!

I know someone who bought one of those all-in-one-piece chrome brake reservoir/master cylinders on eBay and put it on his 1100 with no problems at all.

I purchases a 14 mm Piston Master Cylinder from usa-motorcycles-inc on eBay. It is working very well. Randakk's Nissen is a better choice, but if money is an issue and you don't mind using you bidding skills to wait and get the fleabay one at minimum bid.
