fuel gauge reading incorrect

Finally figured out my running and cranking problem , after installing fake tank the fuel gauge is reading high , temp seems to b normal , any ideas folks ?

I don't have the pix nearby, but there is just One wire involved here.It goes from the gauge to the fuel tank.It may be pinched or grounded somewhere.look at the manual for the fuel sending unit in the tank.Unplug that wire and the meter should drop to empty.If it does not,the wire is shorted,if it does drop to empty the sending unit is at fault or the tank is full :)

To all the great people of this website , all of the information has been fantasic and thanks to all of your help and a little hair pulling the ol girl is back on the road and runnin like a scalded dog . Thanks again to all u members and the help.
