hi i just bought a 1100 with 79000 kays and when ever i stop and put it on the side stand it smokes on start.I tracked it down to no 2 cylinder and have changed the oil ..20w50now is this due to worn valve guides? or not owning a wing only k100bmws they also smoke if placed on sidestand any help would be handy.can i run penrite30 which is thicker to stop it running past valve guide? thanks

Not to worry, this is actually pretty normal for 1100's. Because it is a flat four, when it sits on the side stand, oil leaks past the rings, and when you start it up, it smokes for a bit. As long as the smoke only lasts for a minute or two, you haven't got a problem. Go out, ride and enjoy!
