brake caliper ID

Postby moritz1100 » Sat Mar 17, 2012 8:55 am

Just a quick question about my brake calipers, I have a 1980 GL1100 outfit with leading link front suspension and car rims which make getting the calipers off a pretty big job,I want to order a new set of pads but I'm not sure if my calipers are original to the bike or off a later model. The front right caliper has a number 32 stamped on it and the front left has a number 30 stamped on. The rear caliper doesn't seem to have any number stamped on.
Can anybody help with identifying the calipers?

The only way you are really going to be sure that you get the right pads is to remove the calipers.

I know it's not what you wanted to hear but you are going to have to remove them eventually and if you then find you have the wrong parts you are further behind.

will do tomorrow, I've twin pots on the front and single on the rear. Will probably have to order front pads for an '82 wing and rear pads for an '80 by the sound of it.
Thanks!

rear caliper
rear caliper
front caliper
front caliper

I think the front calipers use EBC pads FA69 and the rear caliper uses FA30, making the front calipers off an '82 wing and the rear original to the bike?

I though only the Aspencades had dual piston calipers?
