Front end wiring help please

Postby SeanM » Fri Apr 06, 2012 7:36 am

I recently purchased this bike 83 1100 aspencade, starts and drives fine, only issue is a mouse made his home in the front shell, (not sure what the shell is called) chewed up a bunch of wiring. My ? is, what is the easiest way to access this? Ive tried removing all guages, lights ect. Still cant reach wiring thats underneath headlight housing. Is there a way to seperate this shell to access?

I think you're talking about the fairing itself, and unfortunately the answer is no. It's a real pain, but the only way to deal with it is to fish the wires through, mostly using the turn signal holes for access, although the storage pouches (once removed) can provide access. You're likely going to have to remove the radios and intercom boxes as well to figure out what damage has been done. Good luck!

WA is correct..solution get a women with small hands to do you dirty work.

really and this a pain..pull everything out and fix it all on a workbench then reinstall..be sure to label all the wire ends, tape and marker works best) before you disconnect they all look the same once out and on a bench. The smart ones take picutres as they go so they can SEE what they undid???

The install changed a bit over the years but either shoudl be bolted to the fairing on the bottom or to the inside/backside of the fairing. Look under the right side you have to remove the lower fairing piece to get at the nuts

Last question for you guys I swear, everything is hooked up once again, power yo all, only thing wrong is on dash radio interface? Is flashing ME and two vertical red lines? What does this mean? No sound comes, I'm thinking this flashing is related?
