80 and 82 brakes and rotors switch

Postby tastysuds » Tue Apr 10, 2012 8:52 pm

Hi everyone. I searched on the site here but cannot find a full answer to my question. I have a 1980, (found it in a warehouse with 3,100 miles on it WOW), and a 1982 Aspencade. Can I switch the rotors and 2 piston calipers from the Aspencade onto the 80. I believe I had seen a post stating I could switch the rotors. If this could be done, would it be worth it, as far as braking upgrade. The Aspencade is a parts bike anyway. Anything else on the Aspencade worth switching onto the 80. The Aspencade had only 21,000 miles on it.

the 82 aspy rotors and calipers need to stay with each other, the swap is possible. The easiest way would be to swap out the entire front end from the 82 onto the 80. Triple trees ,forks, wheel and all. with a little help you wouldnt even have to undo the brake lines ( no bleeding the air out).

Why is the aspy a parts bike if it only has 21,000 miles on it? its just broken in at that mileage.
Ride safe, Todd
Over night campers welcome
