1983 GL1100a air suspension leak

Postby Chiefho70 » Thu Apr 12, 2012 1:43 pm

Hi all new to forum and first post,

I cant seem to add air into my shocks. When I depress the selector switch either front or rear I hear air escaping right away without depressing the increase or decrease button. Is this normal ? I think the decrease button is stuck down as it does not seem to be able to be pushed down and when I press increase i hear the compressor kick in and it is sucking air through its filter but I also hear the air coming out as fast as its going in. Any suggestions.

I'm gonna take a wild guess here.
I believe that the decrease button is a mechanical valve and it is stuck open.
Pull it apart, clean and lube it till it operates normally.
It's the first step.
Find out where it's leaking and fix it.

If I remember (from pulling it apart years ago), the decrease button is just pressing a schrader valve. If so, you could just insert a new valve core and fix that problem.

There was a small plunger on top of the schrader valve that has a o ring in it. That is what was stuck.

Thanks for you replys.
