1983 Alternator shaft bolt loose

1983 Alternator shaft bolt loose

Is there any way to torque the bolt down that hold the alternator rotor down on the 83 honda goldwing 1100 without pulling the engine and removing the rear cover. I can get to the bolt thru the inspection hole, but caint hold the rotor from turning, the manual says it needs to be torqued to 65 lbs.

I wonder if you put the bike in 1st gear and lock up the rear brake?
just a thought.

Less stress on the transmission if it's in 5th gear than 1st.

Had this happen on mine. it actually pushed the inspection plug out. i cleaned the plug threads and Like they said I put the bike in gear and had a buddy hold the brake while i tightened the bolt.
