Rear drive on GL1100

Post by theiggy » Fri Apr 27, 2012 11:19 pm

While changing the muffler on my bike I noticed oil leaking onto the rear wheel from the RH side and it was coming out of the shaft drive area near the center of the tire. Rubbing my finger on it it appears gear oil is leaking. I think this would be just a seal but if so how hard would it be to change?

You'll have to pull the wheel and take a look and see exactly what it is that has failed. Depending upon what you find, it may be cheaper and easier to replace the drive. I found one on eBay earlier this year for $25/plus $8.00 for shipping. Pulling the drive isn't hard at all.
