My 82 has the fuse box layout of the 83.

Postby patbrandon1 » Sun May 06, 2012 3:47 am

I have included two photos of the fuse layout for my mystery. Just wondering if anyone else had this problem. There are a few other differences, like, I have no blinker buzzer on my bike but the wiring diagram says that I do. It was never there, not just removed. Not a great big deal, but it is a mystery, and maybe someone else may benefit from this info. I have looked at my bike fuse box and these diagrams at least 32 times, because I thought I was going nuts. Well, I may be, so if you see something I missed, please be gentle. ;)

My 82 GL1100 has the exact same fuse box as yours ( the 83 version ) Evidently both of our bikes were built at the end of the run prior to the 83 model being introduced.

Trying to find a picture of the fuse box on my 82. Here's what I found...not close up, but I think it's legible enough:

It's the same as yours.

Here is a photo of my 1982 fuse box. The pics of some the 83's are a little different. But the layout of mine is not of an 82, it is an 83 at least the progression and location and amp size. It is just a little strange to me.

My `82 standard has the `83 layout, and a build date of 6/81.

Hey Goldminer, where can I find the build date? And is it totally like the 83, or are there some slight differences?

You can find the build date on the plate attached to the steering head. It will list model, year of production ( build date ) and serial #

The build date is on the VIN plate, left side of the neck.
