`82 1100

Postby goldminerusa » Wed May 09, 2012 8:46 pm

The date codes on the brake hoses on my 82 are 8/91. Since my wife will more than likely be riding with me, and not wanting to find out if they will burst in a panic stop and knowing they are no longer available from honda, where can i buy new replacement hoses front and rear?

Without question, the best upgrade I did to my 82 GL1100 was to replace the brake hoses with braided stainless hoses. The difference in braking power and feel was tremendous. It went from soft and squishy to razor sharp and powerful.

There are quite a few vendors of aftermarket brake lines. I bought a set from Vencowings - certainly not the cheapest available, but made from very high quality parts, and with a good reputation behind them.

Thanks wingadmin. Who`d a thunk, i moved down to ct from that area just 1 year ago! Reminds me that i heard NH has the highest # of registered motorcycles than any other state. And some really Great rides all over the state.

You can get a full set of braided steel lines front and back on ebay for $89.00. I have them on my GL1100, they fit great

Re: `82 1100 - update

After looking at and talking to the people at each site, i`ve decided to order from HELUSA(.com), they offer a large selection of colored lines and fittings and the rep (from Goldwingfacts.com) gave me 3 line length/routing options, which also goes to the cost of each option. Factory-4 lines, Op.1- 2 long front lines and 1 rear, Op.2 - 1 long front line with a loop over tire and the rear line. Goldwingfacts members also get a discount. (pays for shipping). The price falls in the middle of Ebay and Vencowings.com, and other members comments lead me to believe HELUSA`s customer service is very good. I`ll update this when i do the install.

I've done the same - I put Venco lines on my 1100, but I've ordered a set of the HELUSA lines for my 1500.
