Mirror upgrade (GL1500/1800 to GL1100)

Postby NKYWinger » Fri May 11, 2012 7:37 pm

:?: Did not see this discussed before-

Has anyone added late model mirrors to an 1100?
I think it'd be a cool upgrade if they can be made to fit...

lemme know if you've done it!

Peace out

There isn't really any kind of structure under the fairing to mount them to, just thin plastic. It would fatigue and crack the fairing plastic pretty quickly. Not saying that it's not possible, but it would be more than just finding some mirrors that look good and bolting them into place.

Good point. If I find some mirrors, I'd hafta add structural support underneath.... guess I need to try and see how they are mounted on a 1500/1800.

There are three holes in the mirror base itself, and screws fasten the mirror base to the fairing:

The fairing has three threaded posts mounted to the internal fairing frame that provide a solid structure for the mirrors (and dash and front fascia as well):
