Remove/Install Engine

Post by bcnv1100 » Tue May 29, 2012 10:30 am

I'm going to be taking the motor out of one bike and putting it in a different bike that had problems. The new bike already has the motor out so i just need to take out of the old and stick in the new. I found a video on youtube that shows the steps of removing one from a 1200 so im not too sure about how different it would be for my 1100. I didnt see any "how to" write ups on here anybody know of any?? But then i've never done this so it might be easier than i think....????

Not much different.
Remove the "C" clip on the drive shaft and radiator.
Obviously mark all the wires and take pictures along the way.
It's a tight fit and you want to watch the rear of the engine for the vacuum advance canister.
Don't kick it out,be gentle.
Align the drive shaft up before you get too far in bolting it back up.

With basic hand tools and a "C" clip tool,I can drop the engine within 3 hours on a 1100.
