That 82 Aspencade again !!

Well since the last time I posted the 82 Aspencade been running OK Since the new timing belts ,plugs and exhausts gaskets. A friend said try the techcom from chevron instead of the sea foam put 2oz in a half full tank and let it idle said it would do a better cleaning than the sea foam drive and ride. Smoked heavy out of the right side. Well I stuck a lighter to the exhaust left side it blew it out , right side flamed up. Raw gas? The headers were hot to the touch. I rode it to Rockingham and back today. About 100 miles like I said runs OK top speed 70 takes it awhile to get there bogs down on the hills . Gas mileage is around 31mpg ?? Getting to late to mess with it tonite. But anyone have any ideas ??

Sounds like a carb issue. Have theybeen worked on yet? You should get way better then 31mpg. Should be able to hit 70 by 3rd gear. And should not bog down on hills.

I am no mechanic, but that sounds exactly like mine did when I got it from the PO. It turned out to be firing on only three cylinders and it was a faulty pulse generator. I got very low MPG and top speed of 70ish sluggish on hills. The local Honda dealer/mechanic said these old machines will run on 3 cylinders. Got the part from a second hand dealer in FL and machine as been running like a dream good MPG speedo only goes to 85 by i was maxed out and still had throttle to spare. Not sure in i am any where close to whats wrong. It just sounded like the problem i had.

Try syncing carbs-or perhapes a stuck float in one of the carbs?Regards,Johnyy
