TEMP GAUGE

WOULD A REGULAR NUMERICAL AUTO GAUGE GIVE AN ACCURATE READING ON MY GL1100

It depends really on what the sensor is attached to. If you're talking about a digital gauge, it likely either uses its own sensor, or wants to hook up to a known existing type of sensor - not likely the same calibration as the existing one. If it had its own sensor, and you found a good place to put it (J-B Weld it to the case somewhere?) you could probably get a pretty close approximation.
