1982 1100GL Interstate

Postby jasonm » Sun Jun 24, 2012 6:49 pm

Im looking for another engine for my 1982 1100GL interstate goldwing. I was wondering if all 1100 goldwing motors swap out? If I find a 1100 motor what am i looking for so i'll be able to swap out parts from my motor without any issues.

Thanks,
Jason

Basically yes yoiu can the motors are the same..just some gearing differences. Carbs, heads, starter, coils etc. etc. all the same. Well the are two diff. carbs numbers for the 1100's but not sure why they not the same.
HAD LOTS OF GOLDWING 75-83
NOW INTO 1500'S..RIDING A 1998 SE

FAIR WINDS,

Thx for the replies. I have found a 1980 1100 interstate motor. Do you know how much of a difference is in the final drive gear? Is there any wire harness issues I might run into? Just to comfirm all motors from1980-83 out of a goldwing are GL1100?

THx,
Jason

The '80 engine runs about 63 mph at 4000 rpm, the '82 runs cloes to 70 mph at 4000 rpm. Doug

the 80/81 engines have external neutral switch, the 82/83 engines have neutral switch behind front cover.

Also the 80/81 models have pressed in idle jets in the carbs, the 82/83 can be removed with a screwdriver..
