What is the proper bolt torque for the engine guard?

Postby jeffbell » Fri Jun 29, 2012 10:38 pm

In order to remove the left valve cover, I had to remove the left side engine guard. I am now ready to reinstall the guard. Does anyone know the proper torque for the big bolt that passes through the frame to the other side of the bike. The bolt not only holds the guards on both sides, but also appears to be securing the engine in the frame. I just didn't want to make it too loose or too tight. So what should the torque be? What should be the torque on the other engine guard bolts? Any ideas? can't seem to find the torque settings anywhere.

If you can not find Mr Honda's prescribed torque, one may estimate it from standard tables such as

Hopefully these will help. Incidentally - it's not required to remove the crash bars to get the valve covers off. It takes a bit of manipulation to do, but the covers can be taken off with the bars in place.
