Another Speedo Question

Postby ram11397 » Fri Jul 06, 2012 10:16 pm

Hi,
Question? If you run over 85 MPH Aren't you going to break the cable? with a pin in the speedo that stops at the top speed of 85MPH,the wheel is for say running at 95MPH and the speedo is stopped because of the pin, is that putting a strain on the cable one end rotating faster than the other?? Is there a way round this or am i totally off track.

Rick

I fitted a 0-150 MPH speedometer in place of the 0-85 MPH one and have not had a problem if that's a help?

I take it that is aftermarket speedometer, does it fit where the original fits?

Its a Honda speedo for the European market and is exactly the same as the American one but is up to 150 mph. Its a straight swop and is an easy job. My bike is an American import and the old 85 mph speedo has been changed to reflect some European speed limits such as Germany. We like to move on if possible.
