Tape deck radio lock...need a key

Postby Spamcan » Sat Jul 07, 2012 12:57 am

So I just started the reconditioning of my "new to me" http://www.goldwingdocs.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=12317&p=60306#p60306 '82 Aspy. While trying to remove the fairing I found neither of my keys will unlock the tape deck module. The second key will open everything else. My friend who has an '82 SilverWing has the same problem, same module. Is there some other key for these? Possible to get them? Or how does one remove it from the fairing without a key?

I may be replacing the stereo all together with a boat-type waterproof radio. But that's another story for after I (hope to) get the bike running first...

make a bump key..see you tube for that. Or stick a big screw driver in the lock and turn it..the whole lock may move enough to pull the unit up...or locksmith = $$$ or if you can get to the four screws one in each corner and remove? Note if you get it out you can remove the lock and make it work with the key you have..I can give you a how to if you get that far.

I think I'll try a bump key - seems straight forward. Maybe I'll get lucky. Then I can get the code off it and get a key made...maybe. Thanks!
