Rear wheel tire mount and balancing rear disk?

Postby jab2of3 » Wed Jul 11, 2012 11:48 pm

Hi,

Just pulled my rear wheel to have a tire mounted and balanced. Does the brake disk need to be removed for this?

Thanks

thanks,
jeff

I have had mine balanced with the disc on and it always better to balance the total rotating mass anyway?

Me too - AND my truck.

I have done it both ways: I remove the brake rotor when I am going to be muscling the tire off with tire irons (because I don't want to inadvertently ding those VERY expensive and hard to find rotors), and I leave it on when I use a tire machine.

Balance the entire mass that rotates. The disc can be removed to facilitate type change but should be replaced before balancing.i have mo experience with dymw beads as written are still in the stone age here but the sound a grea
t idea.
