Radio search feature

Post by gordonv » Tue Feb 23, 2010 1:01 am

My radio search button (handle bar toggle switch) does not stop searching the air waves. It keeps going around-and-around. When I press it again, it stops, but I usually miss the station. I take it like any scan of the frequencies, it shoudl stop when it finds a station.

Is this correct?

If that is correct, then what it wrong, the radio, amp, or even the switch? I don't need this feature, but I would like it, along with trying to replace the "broken" part, I would like to get it "cheap" so I can keep looking for a deal before I buy it.

Thank you,

It needs to see a strong station before it will stop. First, make sure it's not set to "Local" instead of "DX or Distant".

Second, check your antenna. If you're not getting a good signal from the antenna, it's not going to see a station "strong" enough to stop.

Lastly, I'd have a look at the tuner box inside the fairing. It might have dirty connections, or it might need to be repaired, in which case you need to send it off to Sierra Electronics.
