kicking and backfiring

Postby trikist » Fri Jul 13, 2012 4:15 am

Howdi all long time, my 82`Honda goldwing gl1100 rides great in the dry and also on the road if it started to rain.
But if its parked up somewhere and it starts raining, she will start up as well as usual but she backfires and splutters all
over the place, and i get a drop in power.
Some one toold me that water gets in by dripping down the spark plug leads.
So can any one tell me how I might stop this happening please.

there are very small drain holes located in the spark plug wells. probably clogged with dirt. use a small wire and push the clog out. had the same problem. there is a picture somewhere on this site

Cheers thirdstorybase i checked the drain holes and i think one was cloged up but i also found that the spark plug caps were absolute crap. i ordered new ones. So i hope that sorted that.
