Windshield Wiper?

Post by heholdem » Wed Aug 08, 2012 10:06 pm

Hi all,
Not that I do it intentionally but I sometimes get caught in the rain. Being one who does not like Rain-x very much, was wondering if anyone has ever done a windshield wiper modification to a GL1100. My wife was showing me pics of different scooters from around the world and I saw one that had a windshield wiper on it and got to thinking, I wonder if I could do this on my bike.
Just curious.....

Those are required in some countries! I would assume the shields would have to be hardcoated polycarbonate or the wipers would scratch the shield.
Also, never, never use original RainX on a motorcycle shield (unless it's an F4). Original RainX is for glass and will destroy a plastic windshield.
There is a marine version on the market.

I have always used pledge furniture polish (do not use pledge glass cleaner on plastic) to clean my aircraft windshields. It repels the water very well. Most planes do not have wipers.

Have a look at this: Moto Solutions RainCoat windshield coating. I've been using it for over a year on both my windshield and my helmet with excellent results.
