Any input on Bellvue Cycles, Nashville, TN

Postby Mortal-n-Life » Fri Aug 10, 2012 6:23 pm

Just picked up my first Goldwing...82 Aspencade 60k miles and of course in need of a lot of TLC!

I've stripped the bike down and am setting up to do at-home powder coating on all detachable parts as the bike has a lot of rust and chrome deterioration. Not "re-chroming" nor coating with a look alike "chrome powder" but planning on doing high gloss black...I guess we'll see.

I got the bike started but runs as if it has been sitting for some time (I think the last count was 7 years). Throttle is sticky as well as the carbs. So I have two questions:

1) I've read on here about Randakk's "Starting a GL1000 after a Long Lay-up"...checked out Randakk's site and am wondering if going through his 34 step process is worth it even though rebuild seems inevitable.

2) Bellvue Cycle will rebuild for a reasonable price...has anyone use Bellvue Cycle in Nashville, TN? Any suggestions?

Decided to go with After Hours Cycles out of Waverly, KY. About 45 minutes further away...hoping for a good turnaround.

Anyone ever heard of these guys...After Hours Cycles? Any input?

Getting crabs rebuilt and synced.

Most guys here do there own work . I do. Not that I don't trust others to do good work , I just don't trust others to do work for ME !
guess if things go wrong I know who to blame?
But maybe someone will be able to fill you in.

Maybe it's just me but I don't quite understand how your comments supplies any valuable information to this thread. I really appreciate you letting me know you do your own work and I'm sure, as you assumed, many around here do their own work as well. Maybe I'll hit you up when I tackle the rusted and pitted folks...gotta rebuild them as well.

This is actually my sixth rebuild but first Goldwing and first 4 cylinder carb...easy to do it-your-self when you got the time but sucks when you'll be on the road for six weeks not expecting to be home until the holidays are upon us. So, if you have any helpful input on After Hours or Bellvue, man, I sure would appreciate it.
