Re-Wiring Starter Solenoid 82 Aspencade

Postby Littlemanslick » Sun Aug 12, 2012 8:57 am

Hello,

I am re-wiring the starter solenoid on my 82 Aspencade. The white plug was burned and in bad shape. I was in Stevens Point WI and my bike stopped. I called my mechanic and asked him how the wires went on the starter solenoid. I put crimp on female spades just get the bike going again. I picked up a different starter solenoid. Took the old one off. Now I have a problem, I don't remember how the wires go on the starter solenoid. I found another plug that has four wires I can solder on to them, however it is not the same as I had.

If anyone could take a picture and put it on here of the starter solenoid with wires. According to the plug:

Front Right: RED SOLID
Front Left: RED WHITE

Back Right: GREEN RED
Back Left: Yellow Red

I have the plug all prepped for soldering, before I solder the wires I just want to make sure they are in the correct position. (I did see the a picture of the plug posted for an 83 Aspencade, but I do not know if it is the same) I will attach the picture.

Any help Is much appreciated!

Thanks
Steve

RBGERSON - Thank you for the quick reply. I had it wired for some reason when I broke down in Stevens Point WI

Left Front: RED WHITE
Right Front: RED

Left Back: Yellow Red
Right Back: Green Red

If the wires are not correct could cause some major problems?

I will solder the plug on now that I know it is in the proper wiring sequence.

Thanks again!

Slick

Just wondering if its the same wiring on an 85 gl1100. Need help, there is no juice going to the starter when I hit the ignition switch. will turn over when I jump it on the solenoid.

Left Front: RED WHITE
Right Front: RED

Left Back: Yellow Red
Right Back: Green red

What is considered to be the front and back on the solenoid? I wired my solenoid up and blew the fuse pronto. I only have one fuse left so I need to get it right.
