Carb Syncing, fluid vacuumed out of meter.

Postby Kama » Sat Aug 18, 2012 5:57 pm

I'm doing a carb sync on my 80 GL1100. It's sat the last 12 years. Did a rebuild on the carbs and have it road ready. I finally got the timing belts replaced, adjusted the valves and set it up to sync. I'm using a motion pro setup with fluid to sync. I hooked up the meter to a single carb and calibrated it so all 4 meters moved together. When I hooked it up to all intakes, the #1 carb was really high and the #3 sucked the fluid out of the meter before I could shut it off. Why did it suck the fluid out? I later went back and synced the #2 and #4 together but I can't sync the #1 and 3 or match 2 and 4 because it tries to suck the fluid out on #1. Any ideas? I'm crazy frustrated right now and wanted to get as much info on why and a solution before I proceed any further.
