fuel or electrical?

Ok ill try to make this short and sweet. Cleaned the carbs on my 83 1100 and also synced them. New fuel lines, new honda fuel filter, fuel flowing good from tank, new spark plugs gapped correct, float levels adjusted to 15.5mm, idles great. When getting on the throttle it falls on its face after 1/4 of a turn and seems to be running on 1 or 2 cylinders, back off the throttle a bit and it picks back up the other cylinders. Main jets are clean also, seems to be running out of fuel? Fuel pump seem to be pushing plenty of fuel though. Tried different coils, no difference, pulse generator plug is making good connection, main fuse replaced. I didnt replace the air cutoff valves, but, i dont think it should have that drastic of an effect, or will it? Cant find any vacume leaks either. Almost forgot, vacume slides in carbs seem to be working fine also, no scoring on the slides. HELP!!!!!! About to pull my hair out!!!!!! Ive rebuilt lots of old bikes but i have never encountered such a problem. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Forgot to say this only happens under a load. Revs up fine parked, new fuel lines also.

your symtoms suggest a high voltage spark issue, ie leaking out under load
Also did you check or replace the accelerator pump?

I was thinking accelerator pump as well. Does it happen if you accelerate very slowly, or only if you do normal/quicker throttle opening? Do the same acceleration, only do it VERY slowly, opening the throttle over the course of 10-15 seconds. If you can get to a point where you've got lots of power still, unlike when you describe, then it's probably accelerator pump problems.

I would think it's more likely to be a carb problem than an electrical problem (from your description). As stated, it might be going lean on acceleration due to an issue with the accelerator pump. If you put the choke on and try to accelerate, does it behave a bit better?

tried with the choke, just as bad. opened the throttle slower, started at about 5000rpms as it did before.

I would check your stator output, sounds like a electrical problem of some sort to me.
Poor spark and low votage....causing the motor to misfire.
If it were to be the carbs I would ckeck for an air leak which you have already done, but I still think that you should check for voltage and spark.
What color are the plugs burning?

Its burning rich. You can definatly smell it too.

That again indicates a carb issue.. Can only suggest opening them up again and having a very good look for dirt or something incorrectly adjusted.

Sure sounds like something in the carbs if you smell fuel, you said it idled good, ok good, put a timing light to it once it's warmed up and check the timing, this will rule out any bad ignition components, like spark advancer, or PG wires being bad, check number 2 and number 4 with your timing clip lead...If your marks are on target then you should be fine with the electrial components...Rule that out then..It's in your carbs though I think...

I had a loose ground wire that did the same thing as your bike is doing, so check for a loose or bad ground wire.
I'm still in the bad electrical group.. :lol:
Check for the color of the spark if it's whitish blue or brite blue..also when you check your stator check it at idle and 3000rpm's....let us know what the voltage output is.
