Floorboards and kickstand clearance

Postby Joecop » Tue Sep 11, 2012 10:40 pm

Hi,
I'm looking for some ideas and perhaps u guys have already come up with a good modification.
I have a 1980 Interstate and was running an aftermarket chrome kickstand. I later purchased and mounted floorboards and had a clearance issue with the aftermarket stand so I went back to the stock kickstand and it still doesn't go up as far as I would like? Its o.k. I mean I completed a 1800 mile run to the east coast and back trouble free but would like any ideas on what u guys have done.
Thanks

One last thing I'm really happy with the board location and don't really want to move it.

I never had problems with the floorboards and kickstand interference on my 1100 - can you post a picture of the problem you're having?

I just added a set of Markland floorboards to my 82 GL 1100 and I also have an after market kickstand. The tab for the spring was hitting the floorboard frame so I cut it down a little and redrilled a hole for the spring, but the spring that I had was to big and wouldn't fit between the kickstand and the frame of the floorboards so I switched over to a stock spring from a 82 Goldwing kickstand and that worked.

Excellent idea drilling the hole! I would love to see a pic of that. I added some washers and shaved some material, off the spring mount and that helped. It's almost all the way up. Still any turn/lean clearance is always appreciated. I'm going to hit up TSC for some springs and mount the chrome kickstand. Again thanks.
