Can you do a top end with removal of the cylenders with the engine in the bike?

The cylinder head (with the valves) can be removed without pulling the engine, but you will be left looking at the tops of the cylinders and pistons. Further disassembly (i.e. to remove pistons from cylinders) requires splitting the crankcase, which has to be done with the engine out of the frame.

the cylinders are not removable from the crank case , they are part of the crankcase like a car/truck engine 8-)

Whatever you do make sure you have downloaded the maintenance manual a have a good read of it before resorting to spanners,.
